After being abandoned in the dark, muddy trenches of Northern Idaho, Corporal Wyatt Anderson is forced to outwit and outlive the Scourge as they congregate on the blood-soaked battleground.
All along the west coast, people are rebuilding. Since day one, the Owens Valley cooperative has been researching a cure, rescuing refugees from overrun cities, and searching for a way to slow the constantly growing Scourge infestation. In Oregon, the Republic is expanding. Fueled by industrial and military might, walled fortress cities are rising across the horizon. Their borders grow by the day but are quickly reaching their limit. Humanity is rising but the Scourge still own the night. Beyond the protection of brick, concrete, and steel, a dangerous world awaits. A world full of monsters, raiders, pirates, and cannibals.
The Great Plains used to be America's heartland, the bread basket that fueled the country. Then came the Scourge, plague, mutations, and earth-shaking disasters. The plains turned from amber waves of grain to a barren wasteland. But humanity bounced back. Slowly, people came together. New nations were formed from the ashes of the Old World. Nations like the Northern Plains Confederacy, New Wisconsin, and the Central Republic. Free towns like Lakeport and Jayhawk, and medieval strongholds like Fortress. People came together, drawn by creed, religion, or simple geography. They came together for comfort and human contact, but mostly for strength and survival. The new world can be a horrifying and dangerous place where only the truly resilient will survive.
Armageddon had come and gone, and out of that fiery, biohazardous brimstone rose new nations and new empires. In the Heart of Dixie, a great power is rising, one to rival the memory of the pre-impact United States in its eminence. The New Southern States of America brings rule of law and hope to those who accept it, or bullets and bombs

In the Heart of Dixie, a great power is rising, one to rival the memory of the pre-impact United States in its eminence. The New Southern States of America brings rule of law and hope to those who accept it, or bullets and bombs to those who don’t. To the north, in the ruins of Tennessee, the Merchant Republic of Mare are rebuilding civilization along the newly formed Central Sea. While in the irradiated ruins of the Rust Belt, the feudal Fuhren Clans fight amongst themselves for hegemony over the region; all the while, an empire of bones and blood is rising, hellbent on burning them both to the ground in the name of their gods. In the Gulf of Mexico, weathered sailors say that a vestige of the old world survived the fall of civilization and is building an empire to challenge even the Scourge, but only a fool would believe that.
