180 A.I./2200 A.D.
180 years ago, the Old World ended as the Scourge Virus swept the globe. Billions died, and the Scourge, mutant abominations stricken by the unearthly plague, flowed across Earth with death at their heels.
For a moment, humanity resisted the onslaught and stood as one for the first time in history.
But it was only a moment, a fragment in time, forgotten as the world ended under a writhing mass of gray skin, yellowed fangs, and black, soulless eyes.
But all was not lost, for in the forgotten ruins of civilization, humanity survived like parasites on the hide of the world we once dominated. And as the Scourge haunted the darkness of the night, humanity rebuilt under the scorching light of the sun.
But once again, the peoples of the world were divided.
Decades passed, then centuries. Empires rose and fell. Power was seized in every form, and disparity grew as the reborn flames of industry galvanized the bold. Humble wooden walls grew into formidable fortresses, and militias evolved into armies. Swathes of land were torched, and blood soaked the land as humanity cut through the Scourge that once fought them with unshakable fury.
And as the Scourge fell, the weapons of man turned against each other once more.
Once again, wars raged. Once again, nation turned against nation. And once again, trenches gouged the earth, and the thunder of artillery rained down upon the cities of mankind.
Not content to fight merely the monsters at our doorstep, humanity tore itself apart.
But in the crucible of war, heroes are born. Across shell-blasted battlefields and in battered bunkers, their feats were recounted by friend and foe alike. Stories become myths. Myths become legends.
And legends… Legends never die.
